Selling at Clapham Old Town Fair
One of the best parts of selling my illustration work via my shop, Owl & Penguin Prints, is getting to meet people at craft fairs. I'm excited to say that I'll be at Clapham Old Town Fair this Saturday, 31 August 2019, 12-5pm. I'll be selling my handmade and digital art prints, greeting cards, postcards, buttons, and notebooks, and showing how to make origami penguins and owls! In addition to lots of different stalls, there will also be food and drinks, a dog show, farmyard a

September's inspiration
After a jam-packed summer, it’s nice to have some down time in September. In mid-August, my family and Alexej’s family went to Georgia for Alexej’s mother’s birthday. We had a great time exploring Tbilisi’s restaurants, and visited a winery, a mountain monastery, and ancient cities built into the sandstone cliffs. We ate khachapuri (Georgian cheesy bread) nearly every meal and drank a lot of wine and bright green tarragon lemonade. I’m hoping to write another post about our t

July's inspiration
June has been incredibly busy, but in the most enjoyable way. My haul from ELCAF, UAL degree shows, and the Illustrator's Summer Fair UAL Degree shows 2018 Mid-June was the start of the degree shows at UAL, and I had my first chance to see the Chelsea and Camberwell undergraduate shows since starting my job at UAL. The last time I went to a degree show was probably my own back in 2010. It was also the first time I saw the newly refurbished Camberwell campus. I was very impres

December's inspiration
My big news this month is that my friend and fellow illustrator Wiggy Cheung and I will be at the House of Illustration in King's Cross, London, at the Illustrators' Christmas Fair this Saturday, 9th of December 2017. Stop by and say 'hello'! I've been busy drawing, folding and printing over the past weeks. I created a set of three Christmas card designs - penguins playing in the snow, hedgehogs and field mice in their burrows, and a woodland snowflake with robins, squirrels,

Making of a design - faux bois print
I can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday morning than listening to BBC Radio 6 Music, enjoying the sunshine through the open window, and creating prints. This morning, I finally finished carving a woodgrain linocut design that I've been meaning to do for a few weeks. This design, along with the fox and owl prints serve as a loosely-connected series based on the theme of winter. It's fitting that I'm finishing the last image of this series on the first properly spring

Cherry blossoms
I recently wrote about a trip to the Japanese gallery at the British Museum. Besides seeing some lovely prints, I was also inspired by a beautiful wedding sash with weeping cherry blossom design. I had been thinking of creating a cherry blossom print, but something was missing from my early versions. I love the way the blossoms pour down from the top of the sash, and the metallic thread elevates the natural designs to a level of elegance befitting a wedding. My photos didn't

Welcome!
Hello, welcome to my new website and blog! My website features many of the same images as before, with a few more recent additions. Two of the most exciting bits of news from 2014 and 2015 are, firstly, that I got married ... twice (same husband, different continents), and secondly, that my husband, Alexej, had his first book published by Edinburgh University Press, and I was able to create an illustration for the cover! I have included some of the illustrations I created for
