Wedding animals
It's (sort of) summer, and that means weddings! As I've said before, I'm a big fan of weddings. I completely understand all the arguments against marriage, but I think it's precisely because marriage isn't necessary any more that I think we can start reforming the concept of marriage and weddings into whatever we want them to be. Free from the societal, religious, and historical baggage, we can redefine these concepts for the 21st century. If you want to show your commitment to someone else, you can celebrate that in whatever form you choose. After all, who doesn't want an excuse for a party?
Of course, if you know anything about my work, you will know how much I love animal designs. Last year, a friend asked me to design a print as a gift for his brother's wedding. Above is the end result, which is a custom design based on my Red fox in the snow print. I added a linocut print of a second fox, details in charcoal pencil, and calligraphy text in navy blue ink.
For our friends' wedding in May this year, I drew a puffin for their invitations.
